The TEL team provide a range of services which support and build on the range of learning technologies that we provide.

Support and guidance

Our suite of learning technology tools are available to all staff to use in their teaching and learning. In order to help both staff and students when using these tools we have an extensive range of online guides, manuals and instructional videos which can be freely accessed on demand to provide information on the use of our systems. Where more bespoke support may be required, we have a dedicated email address which can be used to contact the team for more specific queries and requests. We also like to keep our community of users up to date with the latest changes and guidance on best practice through our blog and Twitter feeds .

Training and CPD for Staff

Ensuring that staff make the most of our technologies is very important to the TEL team and to that end we offer a range of training and continuing professional development opportunities for staff which includes a regular programme of open workshops covering all the technologies the team support.
We can also provide individual appointments where a staff member may want to address a specific question or aspect of TEL and we can also arrange bespoke workshops for module or course teams on request.

All good teaching needs to be well designed particularly where there are blended or online elements and the TEL team are able to help with this by providing course or module design workshops which can help you visualise how your teaching will work for blended or online delivery.
We can also help you review your existing online presence and provide support in developing your learning and teaching in an online environment.

Content creation and authoring

We recognise that teaching staff are experts in their own subject area but may not always be confident in developing more sophisticated resources or materials for online delivery.

As a team of expert learning designers we can help put your ideas into practice by working with you to create professional. Interactive well designed learning experiences whether this is an entire course or just a short learning resource. We have the expertise and the software to help create engaging content for your students and are happy to work collaboratively with subject matter experts to accomplish your goals.

An increasing number of courses are now utilising workbooks and portfolios to help students evidence their learning when in a placement setting. This requires careful planning and management of permissions so that capabilities can be signed off by the required authorised people. The team can help you design and develop this workflow so that students have an online document which they can present to both internal and external assessors.

Consultation and Project work

The TEL team are also very open to more in-depth consultation and project work and have worked with a range of partners to design, develop and deliver entire online courses and resources.

We also now have a platform which allows us of offer short courses, CPD and pre-entry engagement where users don’t need a University account to take part. Please contact the team if you’re interested in this and we can provide more information.
