The TEL Unit offers a range of opportunities to find out more about using technology in learning and teaching. Whether you’re looking for advice on what technology can support a particular learning activity, some ‘just in time’ one to one support, or assistance in curriculum development for online and flexible learning, the team can offer support and guidance.
Types of development opportunities available:
Throughout the year, the Learning and Teaching Technology Unit offer a programme of open workshops which you can sign up for through the Staff Development Booking System.
These workshops cover a range of technologies for learning and will give you a hands-on opportunity to try out various tools and techniques to support learning and network with other staff with a similar interest.
For more information and to sign up to a workshop, visit the Staff Development Booking System.
The team can arrange training workshops to accommodate the particular needs of a course team or group of colleagues who would like a session specific to their requirements. We can arrange a date and time to suit your team and tailor the content of the workshop to address the use of any aspect of the centrally provided systems and tools.
Course Design Workshops
The Carpe Diem workshop formula is widely used across many UK universities and offers a transformational process within a facilitated framework in which staff can plan, design and create online courses with the support of learning technologists, librarians, and often including students.
The workshop is intended for full course teams and involves a structured process to guide you through the stages of planning and designing your online learning experiences.
We appreciate that your time is precious and gathering a course team together for a full day can be difficult, so if you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, we will work with you to find a date and a time frame which suits you.
One to one coaching is a really useful way of addressing specific questions or issues related to your own use of technology in learning and teaching. You can arrange an appointment with a member of the team who can come to your office and sit with you to talk through and implement your ideas for using technology.
You can also arrange a tailored training session which will address your particular needs and provide an opportunity for you to ask questions relevant to your own context.
Away Days are a great opportunity to provide information and updates on developments within the field of Technology Enhanced Learning. Things are constantly changing and we would welcome the change to come along to you departmental away day to provide an update of developments and new initiatives.
If you are interested in any of the development opportunities above, please email email@example.com to arrange an appointment.
